Sonnet
Happy I leave with doughnuts in my hands.
Which I will eat until my jeans are tight
And do so till my corpulence demands
I never, ever take another bite’
O happy day on which I will not fight
My burning want to dine and binge and graze
On only Jelly doughnuts through the night
Licking the icing , relishing the glaze
O happy Joy I could do this for days
Or months or year perhaps until I die
Which by that time my fatness will amaze
And in a pile of crullers dead I’ll lie
I’ll eat my doughnuts to please me alone
And eat and eat till every doughnut’s gone
MACBETH
Macbeth can be considered a tragic hero because he begins as a noble hero, having served his king honorably on the field of battle, but through the agency of a tragic flaw, he goes astray. In the beginning he is inherently good and up to that point in the play has made honorable decisions. He is destroyed through the influence of a fatal flaw his pride, greed, and ambition. Macbeth makes several choices throughout the course of the play that lead to his downfall as a tragic hero. If at any point he had made a different decision, things may have turned out completely different. The important thing is that Macbeth had free will, but because of his fatal, or tragic, flaw he always made the decision leading him farther and farther away from his honorable beginnings."I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself And falls on the other." Macbeth is a tragic hero through and through. However his
actions cause resentment amongst the audience, so instead of feeling sorrow at
his demise as we would for Othello, Hamlet, or King Lear, we feel relief that
such a tyrant is dead. But in truth, there was a story, there was a human
inside this tyrant. He is literary proof as to the dangers of ambition.
His tragic flaw would have to be letting the ambitious desires of his wife and himself manipulates him which eventually leads him to his downfall.
Macbeth caused his downfall due to over-confidence and
ambition. When the witches told him his prophecies, he believed it. He becomes
obsessed with all the power, Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and King. When he
was told he will be King of Scotland, Macbeth knew it meant something will
happen in order for him to become king. In page 29, Macbeth says “If change
will have me king, why change may crown me.” Macbeth was clearly getting
obnoxious and wanting the prophesies to be true. When Macbeth starts becoming
violence and murdering all the people he once cared about, his life fell apart.
He starts having paranoia because he killed Duncan and his close friend Banquo.
He was so fond of power; he was blinded by all the good choices he could’ve
made. Macbeth was his own enemy. If it wasn't for their prophecies Macbeth's head would have not been clouded with the possibilities of more power.
Macbeth tragic flaw was his greed for power, blinding ambition and being naive. He did not think about the consequences of his initial deed of killing Duncan. This lust for power lead him to kill innocents as a way to protect his power. Basically this goes to say once he started his reign in an extremely frowned upon way, all things to follow only became worse, and made him full of guilt and insanity which he was responsible for , that then lead Lady Macbeth to kill herself because of his isolation whilst he was trying to fulfill his ambitions and power. And then also, his false sense of security and that nothing will harm him, blinded him from the witches prophecies literal meaning. And so he died voodoo by the witches contributed to his death."When our actions do not,our fears do make us traitor
` In the beginning, he is portrayed as a brave soldier on the battlefield and a respectable man. As the play goes on, we feel less love for the character, but more pity for the rough situation he is in, and anger for the poor choices he made. Eventually, as his actions begin to spiral downwards, we feel hatred for the evil deeds Macbeth has committed. In the end, when he is finally slain, the audience feels pity for the man, as if everything happened the wrong way. This is what makes a tragic play, the course of emotions that the audience feels for the protagonist."Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing". . In the play, Macduff discovers that Macbeth killed King Duncan and also sent killers to kill his family. With this discovery Macduff not only felt that it was right to avenge King Duncan but personally wanted to seek revenge for his family
Macbeth meets his doom with courage and dignity by agreeing to fight Macduff like a man, although he knows he will lose. Macbeth knows he will lose because Macduff is not born of woman having been born by Cesarian section. Rather than run or surrender upon learning this, Macbeth goes down fighting, as soldiers are trained to do and thus keeps his dignity. " I gin to be aweary of the sun, And wish the estate o' the world were now undone," is stated in lines 49 and 50 by Macbeth when the troops arrive at Dunsinane. The significance is to show how important winning is to Macbeth. He decides to keep fighting even though he is in a state of despair. But, I would not say I see Macbeth as a tragic hero I would more so say I see him as a tragic villain.
